Almost two years without you papa ❤️‍🩹

This beautiful, successful man is my everything. He grew up in a Stalinka (communal home) in Russia and until the age of seven he would lay on a trolly and was rolled under his dining room table to sleep. This is the same man who cried on his death bed asking my mother if he had done and left enough for my brother and I.

He came to America at the age of 14 and made an absolute star of himself, with an everlasting presence. Watching people admire my father and his work are undoubtedly the proudest moments of my life. To watch people adore me simply because I am a product of my father is truly exceptional. The luck and dignity I feel being your daughter is unmatched.

Papa, I know why you did everything the way you did. I thought one day I’d be forgiving you, but rather I am thanking you. I promise to fulfill every last one of your wishes. Your last words to me were “nothing, I just love you” and makes me the luckiest girl in the world. In my dreams you’re there everyday… how I long for the day I get to squeeze your belly again. My teddy bear, my twin, my first love and my everything, I love you. The pride I carry being a piece of you will never die. We miss you papa.

There’s not one affogato that goes unordered when spotted on the menu. There isn’t a single manicure where I don’t remember you, the first person to perfect my nails with designs and all… a true artist. There isn’t a single day that goes by where you don’t take up each and every inch of my head and heart.

I’ll always continue to look down at my toes and see a mini version of yours. I will forever remember my nickname “eyebrows”, and think of you when I look at mine. From my nose, to my personality, to my entire existence, everything is you. Your little jap, forever.

I’m sorry I let you leave worried. What keeps me going is knowing that you can now see everything I do, I know you are proud of me. To know that your very last worries were about me, is the most meaningful yet heaviest feeling in the world.
