But the film's true power detonates in its final minutes, when an older Pi, played by Irrfan Khan, offers insurance investigators a second version of his survival, stripped of animals and mercy, and asks the question that has haunted viewers ever since: which story do you prefer? The answer says nothing about the ocean and everything about faith itself. What makes it a must-see is the double ending, an adventure for the eyes that becomes a mirror for the soul, different for every person who watches.
