Marriage Is Not the Core of My Existence; I’m Doing Pretty Good— Actress Bisola Aiyeola Nollywood actress Bisola Aiyeola has shared her views on marriage, saying that although she considers it essential to society, getting married is not a priority in her life. Speaking on the In My Opinion podcast, where actor Uzor Arukwe also discussed his views on marriage, Bisola highlighted the responsibilities women often shoulder in relationships, questioning why some women should remain married when they still have to handle most of the work themselves. “Women are like, you know what? What’s the point if I still have to do everything myself? Why do I have to be tied to this man all in the name of marriage?” she said. The actress noted that some women are breadwinners while also bearing children and taking responsibility for childcare and household duties, leaving their partners expecting to be served. She, however, described marriage as an important institution and said she would be open to it if the opportunity arose. “Marriage is an institution, is essential for the society. For me, if marriage does come, I will get married, but it is not the core of my existence. I mean, I’m doing pretty good,” she stated. Bisola, who is a mother to a 17-year-old daughter, also spoke about the challenges of raising a child as a single parent, explaining that she reminds her daughter that single parenthood should not be something to aspire to. “Being a single parent and looking after my daughter, I still let her know that being a single parent is not that easy. That’s not what you should aspire to be. Bearing the whole load of raising a child shouldn’t be for one person alone,” she said. Reflecting on turning 40 in January, the actress expressed happiness with her life and personal growth. “I turned 40 in January. Yeah. I love me so much, and this is the best times of my life,” she added.

I've spent so many years sharing my City story. Of how I fell in love with a football club for all of its imperfections when I visited Maine Road for the first time in 1996. The scoreboard didn't work. A plastic seagull/hawk swung from the Kippax stand. The subs bench was plastic garden furniture. None of the stands matched. I was a teenager often mocked & bullied at school. A right ugly duckling. For me, City was love at first sight. The football at the time was mostly terrible. Five managers in 18 months. Demonstrations outside the ground. The shame of relegation and the dour times relentless. A 6-0 win over Swindon Town a mere shining light. Relegation to the third tier of English football brought more embarrassment. Macclesfield away a reality. I went to games and then got my season ticket - my first season the one before Division Two. Home & away watching the Blues. I watched us get beat at home to Bury, Wimbledon, Wycombe Wanderers & Stockport County. Trips to the Hawthorns, the Riverside, Highfield Road & St Andrews ended in defeat. Mocked, ridiculed, pitied. Then the slow rise again. Joe Royle. 1999. The Keegan era. We endured - but I enjoyed too. The self-deprecating humour we developed together as a fanbase. The friendships we formed. The blue ties that bind us together as a community. The friends for life from this club. The boyfriends gone by. The husband I married. The children I birthed. All tied to my club. All thanks to my club. My Manchester City. I can't talk about anything to do with the process right now. I've turned down every media request (and a lot of money too, but it's never about that for me), please respect I can't. But my support for the club, for City, will never waver. Owners, managers, players all come and go. The one constant is the club - as long as I have City, a City, at the end of this, I'll be happy & relieved. The division to me doesn't matter. I've already done three of them - and if that didn't test my loyalty, this certainly won't. I didn't sign up for silverware - I signed up to belong. To feel at home. To have as much fun away from the pitch as the players do on it. We will be here. Wherever here is. CTID 🩵
