I’ve been living in two beautiful worlds for over two decades—one in the booth, one in the community. While I’ve been putting the finishing touches on a new album with my brother @therealdjreal (🔥 coming soon!), I’ve also been deep in the work as Executive Director of the @council4children -Over the past 4 weeks, I’ve been running the Nicky O Afterschool Program—just me, some powerful youth, no budget, and a whole lot of love. These young artists from Plainville wrote and illustrated a book of original poems and drawings—in just a month. They learned different forms of poetry and even created song lyrics about Doggos. They are also working on a short film that we’ll feature on the last day of programming. This is what happens when Hip Hop meets healing, when bars and beats turn into books and belonging. I carry what I do in the booth into the work I do for these kids—because the culture has always been about empowerment, expression, and building something from nothing.
