Stewart Mallory, assistant professor of chemistry and chemical engineering @pennstate, leads a team of researchers studying the emerging field of #activematter–the collective behavior of self-propelled microscopic particles.

Their work focuses on developing theoretical and computational methods to control these behaviors, paving way for new materials and microscale devices for targeted drug delivery and particles that can detect and break down microplastics!

The team recently published a study in #JACS, presenting a solution to a common problem micro-engineering.
