As a freelancer, feedback isn’t just nice to have—it’s career fuel. ⛽
But here’s the thing: Most freelancers either:
❌ Never ask (and miss out on testimonials)
❌ Ask too late (when the client’s already moved on)
Here’s what works for me:
1️⃣ Build it into your process
When I send the final invoice, I always follow up with:
“Hey [Name], really enjoyed working on this! Quick question—were you happy with how everything turned out?”
If they say “Yes!”, I hit them with:
Amazing! Would you mind sharing a quick testimonial? It helps me a ton!
👉 Pro tip: People like to stay consistent. If they say they’re happy, they’re more likely to say yes to a testimonial.
2️⃣ Skip the email—pick up the phone
The best feedback I’ve ever gotten? From a 5-minute call.
Voice = more honest, more detailed, and way more personal.
3️⃣ Don’t overthink it
Feedback isn’t a favor—it’s part of the job. Good clients want to help you grow.
