Wringing Hope From the Rubble of Gaza The cease-fire announced a year ago ostensibly brought an end to Israel’s war in Gaza, which began following the Hamas-led attacks on October 7, 2023. However, Israeli strikes, though less frequent, have not stopped. More than 1,400 people have been killed in Gaza since the cease-fire was signed, according to local health officials, while Israel maintains that it continues to target Hamas militants. Yet, amid the rubble, hunger and displacement, Palestinians continue to hold on to hope Some are trying to rebuild their homes using whatever materials they can find, while others are working to revive their businesses or start anew, searching for a sense of normalcy in a place where so much has been destroyed Through my photographs, I wanted to document these efforts to rebuild life amid the devastation and highlight the determination of people who refuse to give up on the possibility of a better future. “Wringing Hope From the Rubble of Gaza” is a story about loss, resilience and the strength of the human spirit You can read the full story, written by Aaron Boxerman, through the link in my bio. Beautifully edited by @gaiatripoli and @boshnaqmona . I’m grateful to them and the entire team at @nytimes for their efforts in bringing this story to life And thank you @paololeccastudio for your wonderful work.
