COLD YOUTH

I’m Shanti and I’ve been living in Milan for two and a half years for my studies. After shooting digitally for a few years, I decided to embark on an analog journey. I started to see digital photography as somewhat “flat,” feeling the need to be more intentional with my shots and to take them only when truly necessary.
After all, I’ve always watched movies on film and loved photos of bands that no longer exist. From my first rolls of film to the latest ones, my perspective on subjects has changed greatly, and so have my compositions. In recent shots, there’s no longer a focus on precision or symmetry—which I once sought so much when I was younger. Now, there must be intimacy, which is the key to
everything.
