When I was 7, living in a tent with my brother, school was my escape. One day, I was handed my first Duffy book and everything changed. Stories became my safe place, my wings, my way out. Now, years later, I stood in front of 2000 tamariki across 17 kura, not just as a speaker, but as proof that books can save.

To give back to the charity that once gave me hope feels like full circle. Reading taught me that struggle is temporary and dreams live in pages. Manakitanga filled my heart.
And that little girl in me? She’s healing.
This is only the beginning.
