![‘Sometimes ideas are laboured; sometimes they come in a moment of divine inspiration. This is what happened with the cover I made for Bazaar Art’. For this issue, Sam Taylor-Johnson wanted the image to look ‘immediate and powerful’. ‘I had this idea of me trying to run, hard and fast, but with big solid-rock shoes on, [reflecting] the pressure to maintain momentum while always striving to move forward.’ As she reflects on her career as an artist, photographer and director, Sam Taylor-Johnson realises that these aspects are all integral, inseparable parts of her being. ‘It’s about accepting that it’s the whole, it’s all of me.’
After months of collaboration with our four cover artists, our annual collectible Bazaar Art magazine has hit newsstands. Sam Taylor-Johnson, Chila Kumari Burman, Renée Levi and Cindy Sherman each let Bazaar into their worlds, giving us an insight into the personal passions that drive their art forward.
