Kevin Johnston | The Bright Silence

I’m going back in time. On Thursday, April 17th** I’ll release the first of a few new live performances we filmed a while back - in one of my favorite haunts: @ig_fortuna_kino_der_jugend. This dilapidated Leipzig ruin was once a beloved gathering place and movie theater in the GDR era, transformed from a “town gas” storage plant in 1929. It sighed its last breath as a cultural center back in October 1990 when the wall fell and the GDR ended. It sat for 30 years, collecting dust, harboring ghosts and hidden stories, like a forgotten suitcase of memories, stuck somewhere between the unwound hands of the clock. 30 years later, a group of Leipzig history buffs cracked open the theater’s shell and breathed new breaths of wonder and excitement into this abandoned chamber. It was the perfect place - and time - to interpret a song that so many of us know. Can’t wait to share it with you! See you on the 17th. Don’t be late.
