Raphael Rowe Foundation

“We’ve never had anything like this.”

That’s what a PE teacher told us after delivering Street Racket at HMP Swinfen Hall, where she’s been running sport programmes for 19 years.

For the first time ever, prisoners took part in a collaborative activity in the yard.
No barriers.
No uniforms.
Just staff and prisoners - playing side by side.

“It breaks down barriers… we’re not staff, they’re not prisoners - we’re just human.”

And the impact?
“They’ve taken to it so well.”
