Amsterdam is a GREAT CITY - I bloody love it ❤️
However, so do a lot of people and its due to this popularity and the fact it’s not a huge place that prices are often high 📈
Yep, it’s our friend ‘dynamic pricing’ once again 😭
The fantastic news is that public transport links in and out of the city and FANTASTEG and so why not use this as an excuse to stay a little outside the centre, explore a new place AND save some money 💸
1️⃣ THE OUTSKIRTS OF THE CENTRE
West, Zuid and Oost can sometimes be slightly cheaper than Centrum - but they’re still very popular - and so I’d be looking at Nieuw-West, Westpoort and Noord for the best value for money
In this example, I show the Met Hotel which we stayed at in Nieuw-West which is ACE because it’s literally in the middle of the train ride from the airport to the centre.

Yeah, sadly you’re that bit too close to Amsterdam here and so will be hit by the same tourist tax as the centre! This applies for hostels and Airbnbs too.

A great city to visit in its own right. I LOVED IT HERE.

3️⃣ ZAANDAM
Look at this on a map and you’ll realise what a great shout it is - it’s so close to Amsterdam! And with 141 trains a day, you never have to wait long to get there.
Plus, the famous Inntel hotel is really cool to see!

Less if you’re staying outside the ‘centre’ of Zandaam which some hotels may be as that area isn’t big!

XO Amsterdam usually are fairly cheap and they have a bunch of options. I've stayed a few times with them and they've always been very nice

Sloterdjik is our area of choice when we go. On the main train line from the airport to central, 5-10 trip if that. Buses, trams and trains all in one spot. Breakfast club and other great restaurants in the area too
