This is a must watch
It’s taken me a couple of days to truly process what happened this weekend. We put ourselves in the best position heading into the final power stage. All we needed was 4th or better to clinch the championship. After a season of fighting for every second and point, it came down to one last stage. Half way through the stage we hit exposed bedrock on the racing line, puncturing both left side tires. We did everything we could to limp to the finish but in the end it wasn’t enough. What makes this harder to swallow is knowing everything it took to get here. This season was do or die for me. I put everything I had financially into running my own team, competing against manufacturer teams with far more resources and support. There were no guarantees, but I believed we could fight at the front. And we proved that. Bad luck followed us all season. At the Snow Drift we were three corners from our first overall win when a mechanical failure took it away. Punctures at two other rallies cost us chances at wins and valuable points. Somehow, we still led the championship for most of the year. Without the two dropped rounds in ARA’s points system, we would have won on total points. Those were the rules we all raced under, but it’s still a tough pill to swallow. I don’t think I’ve ever given so much of myself to something, only to come so painfully close. But I don’t want this weekend to overshadow what we accomplished. I became the first woman to lead the overall American Rally Championship standings and the first woman to win an overall national rally, in my first season back after two years and my first in a Rally2 car. I’m incredibly proud of that, and no championship result can take it away. I’m so proud of everyone who put their heart and soul into this program. I know how much they sacrificed, and I wish we could have brought home the title they deserved. I’ve always known rallying can be cruel, but I don’t think I understood just how cruel until this weekend. I hope I’ll remember more than how it ended: the risks we took, the history we made, and the people who believed in us. Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey. ❤️
1️⃣ 1️⃣ days until Larry Legend is enshrined in the Ring of Honor
Why am I so sad 😭 Until Next Year, My Dahlia Friends 🌸 The autumn light is fading fast, The summer days are gone, And now I face the saddest task As daylight lingers on. I gather up your fading blooms, Your petals soft and dear, Remembering the joy you brought Throughout the brighter year. I cut you down with heavy heart, Then gently lift the ground, And dig your precious tubers up, Where summer dreams are found. Each clump I cradle in my hands, Each root a memory, Of colours dancing in the sun, And blooms that danced with me. I’ll brush the earth from every root, And tuck you safely in, In boxes filled with winter rest, Till spring comes round again. So sleep now, my dear dahlia friends, Let winter have its way, Dream of sunshine, rain-washed earth, And a warm, bright summer’s day. Though my garden feels so empty now, And my heart is feeling blue, I know this isn’t really goodbye, Just a pause between me and you. For underneath the winter’s chill, New life will wait unseen, And soon enough I’ll see your shoots Push through the earth so green. Until next year, my dahlia friends, Rest peacefully till spring. I’ll miss you more than words can say, Till we meet again, my lovely things. 🌸💗 . . . . #dahlias #dahlia #dahliaseason #dahlialove #dahliasofinstagram
