Nine documentaries in, Zara McDermott is still pushing against the assumptions people made about her after Love Island.

“I haven’t followed the conventional path that someone who comes out of Love Island normally would,” she tells Cosmopolitan. Her films have taken her into worlds far removed from the usual reality TV star trajectory, exploring intimate image abuse, rape culture, stalking and eating disorders. Now, she’s working alongside Lancashire Police on her latest documentary.

In her October digital cover story, Zara talks about forging her own path and why she wants to be involved from the very first idea. Read the full interview at the link in bio.

“Acting is what makes my heart sing, creating something.”

@laysladeo spent nearly a decade knocking on doors before In the Tall Grass finally opened one, and today she’s savoring every step inside. Now starring opposite Zoe Saldaña, Nicole Kidman and Morgan Freeman in Lioness, she opens up to Blanc about the teacher who first told her she could act, learning by osmosis from icons, and why the truest luxury isn’t a single achievement but a life made of unforgettable moments.
