Malerwinkel Marktbreit – historic house by the water and a picture-perfect corner of Franconia 🏡🪞☀️
*
Framed by time and water – the Malerwinkelhaus in Marktbreit isn’t just colorful and slightly crooked, it’s also beautifully set on the old moat wall near the Main Gate (Maintor). Originally used as a spice market, it was renovated in the 18th century and took on the appearance it still has today. Today, it houses the town’s local history museum.
*
Its name, “Painter’s Corner”, comes from the scenic location by the moat, where the building’s reflection in the still water creates a postcard-perfect view.
*
I walked around the area and captured it from different angles – at noon and in the early evening – sometimes up close, sometimes from farther away, just as I saw it on this perfect sunny day in late April 2025.
