Our team traveled to Storrs, CT last week for the groundbreaking ceremony for the Bailey Student-Athlete Success Center, marking the construction start of the second phase of our renovation the Greer Field House.
Newman’s project architect Cristian Oncescu, project manager Matt Jurgens, and branding designer Reid Mitchell joined the event that featured UConn President Radenka Maric, Athletic Director David Benedict, donors Trisha Bailey ‘99 and Denis Nayden ‘76, ‘77, and student-athletes on the women’s soccer and men’s track and field teams, Chioma Okafor ‘26 and Travis Roux ‘25.
This major renovation project upgrades training and office facilities for UConn’s Cross Country, Field Hockey, Golf, Rowing, Swimming & Diving, Tennis, and Track & Field teams, and creates new shared resources for Sports Medicine, Sports Performance, Strength & Conditioning, as well as The Nayden Center for Academic Excellence. A new lantern-like pavilion addition provides a recognizable public entrance, align the building with the rest of the campus, and solidify the building’s renewed commitment to supporting UConn’s student athletes.
Newman has provided the full range of our services for the project: planning, architecture, interiors, lighting, and branding. We value the strong relationship we continue to build with UConn, and we look forward to seeing the project to completion alongside an amazing team!
