All 7 rounds of the eliminations. I got a bye in the 5th round. Cut it a little too close in the first round racing @cmlmtb in his sweet E63S Wagon. Comfortable wins (and a fortuitous red light for one competitor) for rounds 2-4. Rounds 6 and 7 were very close, winning margins of 0.04s each!

Read the list slowly, because every plank on it is a vote, a quote, or a speech, and Talarico cannot scrub any of them. He voted against banning a state income tax, and told a town hall he did not care what taxes had to be raised. He supports an assault weapons ban in a state that owns more guns than any other. He promises broad access to reproductive healthcare, which is the polite phrase for an abortion law Texas just spent a decade writing. He called the border a welcome mat, called immigration agents a secret police force, and proposed redirecting the state’s entire border-security budget to education. He promised a pathway to citizenship for the people who crossed illegally. That is five planks, and the record is barely warm.

Then the children. He voted against the bill that banned transition procedures for minors, keeping the procedures legal, and he discovered his opposition to the surgeries only when the Senate campaign required it. He voted against keeping males out of girls’ school sports, then told a hidden camera his policy was the most inclusive of any candidate running. He told inmates at a Texas prison that he wanted a world without prisons, that prison is violence, that half the money spent on wars, prisons, and policing could make prisons obsolete. And when a reporter asked about the Supreme Court, he said he was open to expanding it. The list is long because the record is long, and the record is long because he spent eight years voting like Austin was America.

The campaign scrubbed the website. Progressive, gone. Trans kids, gone. Bold progressive ideas, gone. The votes stayed. The speeches stayed. The prison speech is on video, the welcome mat is on video, the drag queen answer is on video, and no amount of rebranding as a border security Democrat erases a record made when he thought no statewide electorate was listening. Texas is listening now. Eleven planks, one candidate, and a ballot on Tuesday. Read the list again, and then read the name at the bottom of it. The name is the warning.
