FATHERS DAY
Not only was it a day for me to mourn, but it was also a day to remember the day I declared myself a follower of Jesus. I still vividly recall that day, as if it were yesterday. I was already feeling down because I didn’t have my dad by my side.
On Father’s Day morning, my amazing friend, who is now my sister in Christ, Audrey Layman, kept inviting me to church. Finally, I decided to go that day. When I arrived, I was not only overwhelmed but also compelled to stay. As the service progressed, I couldn’t help but tear up and listen attentively to the message. Finally, it came to an end.
I sat there, waiting, as if something had told me not to leave yet. Then, people in the front of the church began praying for those in need. I was scared, but I asked Audrey and Melissa to join me. With newfound courage, I stepped up to the front and met Kyle, who is now my mentor and brother in Christ.
For some reason, I started telling him my entire story, including how I had been suicidal. They all began praying for me, and that moment was when I realized I needed to follow Jesus and proclaim him as my lord and savior. Not only did I become a follower of Christ, but I also gained a father in heaven who will love me unconditionally.
This year has been a rollercoaster of emotions, but my story is just beginning. All I want to do is share my journey and teach others about the incredible things Jesus has done for me.
I want to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who has supported me throughout this journey. From my friends who have been my dance partners to my Bible study groups, my church, and especially my family, who have been patient with me, I am incredibly thankful. I love you all, and let’s continue this journey together.
