The post I have been dreading to make . . .
Father’s day has always been hard for me but especially on this one in particular. My grandpa stepped up and stepped into that father role that I needed. He showed up, he was present, he was always there. He was the epitome of what a dad should be. Loving, patient, compassionate, understanding, kind and totally goofy.
He never raised his voice, he just listened to understand and if you messed up he would help you understand how you could do better next time.
Every summer as a child, I spent with him. Painting pottery, taking ferry rides, swimming in the pool, dancing in the sun room, spending time in corolla on the back porch talking to him about everything. The memories with my grandpa will live forever in my mind.
My grandpa was the best human I have ever met. He is the reason I work with older adults. My love for him allowed me to love seniors the way I do now.
As I write this post with tears in my eyes, he is now dancing in heaven. I wish I could hug him one more time, dance with him one more time and hear his deep raspy voice one more time.
There would never be enough time in the world with him and I cannot wait to see him again. If you know me, you know my grandpa was the most important person to me so this father’s day I am celebrating his life and his legacy so cheers to grandpa! 🫶🏼
