Catherine

This Monster of Mine by Shalini Abeysekara is an absolutely STUNNING dark, twisted tale of a woman seeking vengeance… only to find out the monster she’s hated for four years isn’t the biggest devil in her world. With a brutal prologue, Abeysekara sets the dark tone of the entire book. While there are moments of levity, dark humor and even some tenderness and a little spice, the overall tone of the book matches Serai and Kadra’s willingness to do whatever it takes to achieve justice, even if that means going outside the law. This does mean that checking your trigger warnings is advisable. This book won’t be for everyone, but I’ll be honest it was PERFECT for me. Serai is a main female character who embraces her darkness, and uses it for good (and a touch of violence teehee), and I will admit to more than once having to quiet and hold in rage like Serai does in the start of this book. This Fairyloot edition is absolutely GORGEOUS, and I think matches the story extremely well. I am so excited to see that there will be another book in this world coming out, and @fairyloot please do a matching special edition!! I need more Serai and Kadra art!
