Presenting Defined’s October 2026 cover star @kerrywashington. Cover 1/3.

From Olivia Pope to Broomhilda in Django Unchained, Kerry Washington has never waited for someone else to decide what story she tells. She produces her own work through Simpson Street, named after the street in the Bronx where her mother grew up, and says that if she weren’t a producer there would be no Little Fires Everywhere.

This October she’s in Animals, Ben Affleck’s new thriller, streaming now on @netflix. She plays Abigail, wife to Affleck’s mayoral candidate Mark Kimball. When their son is kidnapped, the couple is drawn into a web of deception and forced to make choices that could tear their world apart.

For our cover story, photographed by Defined founder Rachell Smith (@rachellsmithstudio), Kerry sat down with @theannabelbrog to talk about Animals, Hollywood’s invisible prejudice, why she has to play at being Tom Hanks, and the moment she stopped letting other people define what “perfect” looks like.

We made this with Kerry and a team we’re proud of. Read the full cover story.

Kashmere is setting the record straight after Tavii Babii shared a story post holding up a picture of Kashmere alongside the caption, “still got all my teeth scary hoe.” Kashmere responded by making it clear that she never fought Tavii, telling her to “stfu” and reminding her that her altercation was actually with Ivori. Chileee, is there some confusion about who fought who, or is the Baddies USA Chapter 3 drama getting messier by the day? What y’all think?
