Ben Affleck went viral after revealing how he responded when his 13 year old son, Samuel, wanted a pair of Dior sneakers worth $6,000. When Samuel pointed out that their family had the money, Affleck reminded him that his father’s wealth didn’t automatically belong to him, joking, “I have the money. You’re broke!”

The Hollywood actor explained that he wants his children to understand the importance of hard work and earning the things they want. He even joked that Samuel would have to mow a lot of lawns to afford the expensive shoes, making it clear that growing up wealthy doesn’t mean everything should be handed to you.

Despite having the financial ability to buy his son almost anything, Affleck believes that teaching responsibility, discipline and the value of money is far more important. His approach sparked praise from people who believe that even children born into privilege should learn that success and financial independence come through effort.
