Byeeee summer 😭🩵

Before you start throwing stones at me and asking what on earth I’m doing somewhere in Asia while the war in Ukraine continues, let me both reassure and disappoint you: I’m still in Ukraine. 😌

I simply came across a photograph from my pre-Christmas trip to Vietnam last year and decided it deserved a moment of its own.

Why? Because I’ve always appreciated the beauty of minimalism. The kind that leaves you with nothing to hide behind. No luxury, no elaborate settings, no desperate attempts to impress.

True beauty has very little to do with what a person wears. If it comes from within, even the simplest robe cannot conceal it. And if it isn’t there, no amount of diamonds can create it.

Which brings me to the lotus.

For thousands of years, the lotus has been revered across Eastern cultures as a symbol of purity, spiritual awakening, and inner strength.

And what fascinates me most is where it comes from.

The lotus takes root in the mud, rises through murky water, and eventually blossoms above the surface, remarkably pure and beautiful.

To me, this is one of the most profound metaphors for human life.

We tend to believe that happiness and inner peace require perfect circumstances: a beautiful home, financial security, comfort, and a life untouched by hardship.

But is comfort really what shapes us into who we are?

Sometimes, the most beautiful human qualities emerge not where everything is perfect, but where life demands resilience. Where we are forced to struggle, endure, lose, begin again, and somehow still find the strength to remain kind, dignified, and human.

Of course, suffering alone does not make anyone a better person. But we always have a choice: to let our circumstances define us, or, like the lotus, to rise above them.

After all, the lotus is not beautiful because it grew in clean water. It is beautiful because it managed to bloom despite the mud beneath it.

And perhaps, this has never really been just about flowers.

Me when I was single vs. now….

T<3 weeks until the OGs are back together 😈

Nothing brings people together quite like a shared love of John Carpenter's The Thing. Just ask Nicholas Galitzine and Reece Feldman.
