Sometimes exercise isn’t enough. Sometimes you’re in a time crunch and simply can’t take time off, unload, regress. Sometimes you need some extra help. Sharing my personal experience. PRP is platelet rich plasma. It involves drawing your own blood, spinning it, separating platelets and growth factors, and injecting them back into the affected tissue. It concentrates platelets from your own blood and injects them into the affected area. Those platelets release chemical signals that may influence inflammation and activate cells involved in tissue repair, including collagen production. How much that improves healing depends on the condition being treated. Dry needling involves sticking long thin needles around the affected area, and most likely works through a mix of local and nervous system effects. There isn’t one proven mechanism. The needle stimulates nerve endings in the area. That input may temporarily change how pain signals are processed and reduce sensitivity. The sensory input may also engage pain inhibiting pathways in the spinal cord and brain, which can temporarily turn down pain. BPC-157 is thought to send signals that help repair cells and blood vessels, while TB-500 may help repair cells move to damaged tissue and rebuild it. That’s the theory from early research; it hasn’t been proven that either one speeds injury healing in people. So while the mechanisms are biologically plausible, we simply don’t have solid human evidence that either reliably speeds muscle, tendon, or ligament healing. *5% DEXTROSE* edit The idea is that it may calm overactive pain sensitivity in subcutaneous nerves and reduce local irritation. The proposed mechanism is that the fluid may free tiny pain sensing nerve fibers that are irritated or squeezed where they pass through the tissue under the skin, while the dextrose may dial down their sensitivity possibly by affecting pain and inflammation signals. That could make the area hurt less, it’s a theory, though, and the exact mechanism hasn’t been confirmed. Prolotherapy uses a concentrated dextrose solution injected into or around painful tendons, ligaments, or joints. The proposed mechanism is that it create

Chicago marathon 2026 My first ⭐️ & 4th marathon. Finishing a marathon is always a massive accomplishment but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t upset & disappointed in what happened yesterday. Months of work for one day & it just wasn’t my day. That’s just the way it is sometimes. I started hot & I knew that would happen because the hype is so good but then slowly was settling into my pace. Unfortunately after my first gel I knew my stomach was off. I’m not sure why because I did the same exact thing I did every week in training. I’m like ok slow down a lil let it settle, it’s fine you’ve trained for this. By mile 9, my stomach was not happy. I told Avery (we stuck together for 10 miles) that I knew this was gonna get ugly for me. *I AM NOT SAYING THIS FOR ADVICE I AM SHARING MY EXPERIENCE. YOU MUST LISTEN TO YOUR BODY & MAKE THE CALL. You can disagree with my decision to continue the race but it was MY decision & medicals approval. It’s your race, you make the call that you think is right & I stand by my decision to continue* By mile 12, I threw up. At that moment I knew I was really in for it. Again beyond pissed because this training block I focused so much on fueling bc I have always had issues with this & I felt like I finally had it. A nice lady handed me some tissues & a water. I started to walk. Now I knew I needed to get more cals in & hydration. I resume jogging (screw race pace at this point). Down another gel & water, I think ok im good. No I was not good. I continued to get sick until mile 25. I stopped in medical at 15 & sat down with them. I was never dizzy & my body felt strong. Medical cleared me to continue the race but said to continue to hydrate & get cals in & try to hold it in as long as possible. At this point I’m walking 90% of the last 14 miles. DNF was on my mind for about 4 miles. I went back & forth on it a lot. I felt safe to continue bc I was so aware & felt fine minus my stomach it was in shambles.
