Singer and songwriter Melanie Fiona is enjoying a slower pace of life in Paris, and the experience has her questioning why people in North America are constantly in a rush. The Grammy-winning artist took to Threads to share how spending just a few days in the French capital has positively impacted her mental and emotional well-being. “I’ve been in Paris for a few days now, and my nervous system is already more regulated. People here walk slowly. They take their time drinking coffee or eating with friends. Nothing is HIGH DEMAND. It’s so lovely.” Fiona explained that the relaxed atmosphere made her recognize just how much stress has become normalized back home. “It reminded me how disregulated we are in North AMERICA, and how we exist in a constant pressure cooker of stress. We expect everything fast and in a hurry and deem it disrespectful if it’s not.” Her observations highlight the differences she has noticed between everyday life in Paris and the fast-paced culture often associated with North America. From rushing through meals to expecting immediate service, Fiona’s reflections raise questions about whether convenience and productivity have come at the expense of personal peace. Is North America’s fast-paced lifestyle putting unnecessary stress on us, or is Melanie Fiona simply experiencing the magic of being on vacation?
𝓢𝓪𝓻𝓭𝓲𝓷𝓮𝓼 𝓢𝓾𝓷𝓭𝓪𝔂 . 🐟✨️Sardine Squad, where you at? . Forget chicken or pork ~ this is an exciting makeover your tinned sardines has been waiting for. . This one's a Filipino ✨️ADOBO-STYLE SARDINES✨️over garlicky rice with pickled jalapeños. . The rich, savory-tangy umami of the adobo sauce beautifully cuts through the richness of the sardines, while the crunch of pickled jalapeños brings a spicy kick. . It was so good, I wish I had made more. If you want it more saucy, double up the sauce recipe. . . *INGREDIENTS* -------------------------- ✨️2 cans sardines (I used Trader Joe's for the larger sized sardines) ✨️5 garlic cloves, minced (Use half for sardines and fry the other half in neutral oil until golden brown for your garlic rice) ✨️1/2 cup water ✨️1/4 cup apple cider vinegar ✨️1/4 cup shoyu ✨️1 Tbsp brown sugar ✨️1 Bay leaf ✨️Sea salt & black pepper, to tasteTown! ✨️Thai chilies, as garnish if you like it hot . On medium heat, add sardines oil from the can and add sardines. . Add 1/2 of your minced garlic, water, vinegar, shoyu, brown sugar, bay leaf, salt, and pepper. Turn down the heat and let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes until sauce starts to reduce. Be careful not to handle the sardines too much. . ✨️For your garlic rice:: Add neutral oil to a pan, add in remaining minced garlic, and sauté until golden brown. Add 1 cup cooked Jasmine rice (day old or cooled is best). Toss in the rice and cook until garlic is incorporated. Add salt and pepper to taste. . Plate a generous amount of garlic rice in a bowl or plate, add adobo sardines, and drizzle on sauce. Garnish with crispy garlic. Pickled jalapeños optional. . . . 🐟𝓗𝓾𝓰𝓼 & 𝓕𝓲𝓼𝓱𝓮𝓼,🐟 𝓢𝓸𝓷𝓲𝓪 . . . . 🌸🌱🌸🌱🌸🌱🌸🌱🌸🌱🌸🌱🌸🌱🌸 🇫 🇴 🇱 🇱 🇴 🇼 @glitterandchopsticks for more food inspiration and recipes! 🌸🌱🌸🌱🌸🌱🌸🌱🌸🌱🌸🌱🌸🌱🌸 . . . . . . . . . . . . 💖 #sardinesquadsunday #adobosardines #sardinerecipe #tinnedfish #tinnedfishseries
