Yohji Yamamoto isn’t one to look back. “I honestly don’t remember what I did in the past,” he says five decades into his career. Even so, there’s a wistfulness to how he sees his own place in the industry. Having outlived friends and competitors like Azzedine Alaïa, Giorgio Armani, and Alexander McQueen, he admits he feels “a bit lonely.” But his deeper concern is for the uncertain landscape newer designers are inheriting, shaped by war, distress, and an industry he believes is destroying creativity through economic pressure. Mini-lecture on tendinopathy in the postmenopausal female Tendons have estrogen receptors. Estrogen helps regulate the genes for collagen, which gives tendons their strength. Tendon injury rates appear to become more similar between women and men after menopause. This comes from Achilles rupture data, not tendinopathy specifically. The authors propose that active women may be at extra risk because muscle strength can outpace tendons that are losing stiffness. That idea hasn't been tested in postmenopausal women yet. • Tendons have estrogen receptors.
