A California startup is developing a 7-foot chainsaw-wielding centaur robot designed to enter places too dangerous for humans. 🤖🪚 Called Threehalves, the robot is being developed by Satyress Robotics in Auburn, California. It combines a humanoid upper body with four legs for stability on rough terrain. The goal is to help workers operate safely in hazardous environments, including wildfire zones, collapsed buildings, and dangerous forestry sites. A human operator would control the robot using joystick-style controls. Its modular arms are designed to accept interchangeable tools such as chainsaws, drills, and screwdrivers, allowing skilled workers to perform dangerous jobs from a safer location. Even its unusual appearance serves a purpose. Cameras inside its horns are intended to help operators track its limbs and tools, while mechanical failsafes are designed to lock its joints if the robot loses air pressure or motor control. The project is still in the prototype stage, with no confirmed commercial release date. Its creator, Beau Gaston, says the goal is to protect workers from dangerous conditions rather than replace them. Be honest, if this thing walked out of the smoke to rescue you, would you feel relieved or terrified? 💀 Follow @longliveai for more AI, robotics, and future technology updates. Things I’m officially too old for: pretending I want to go somewhere when I’d rather be home. 😅 And apparently, that includes my own birthday. I turned 36 this year, and instead of planning a big celebration, I turned off my phone, stayed in my pajamas, and did absolutely nothing. Which sounds wonderful, right? Well, I also cried a little. 😂 It was such an interesting experience because, on one hand, I wanted absolutely nothing. On the other, there was still a part of me waiting for someone to surprise me. And it made me realize how often I’ve confused what I actually want with what I think I’m supposed to want. In tomorrow’s new SOLO on @notalonepod, we’re catching up on alllll of it. My birthday blues, a major breakthrough with imposter syndrome, why I broke up with my Oura Ring, and a few realizations about the way I’ve been living my life. One thing I know for sure? I don’t want every year of my life to be preparation for a better one. Consider this your permission to disappoint a few people. Including me, if you don’t want to listen. New SOLO drops tomorrow, Wednesday, on @notalonepod. 🤍 Top @mvpwardrobe Skirt @leolin_official
Several Republican candidates and leaders responded to the party’s sweeping losses in the midterm elections on Tuesday. While President Trump attributed the defeat to the fact that he was not on the ballot, others in his party dismissed his explanation and pinned the blame on him. They cited Trump’s tariff policies. They pointed to his decision to take the country to an unpopular war in Iran that drove up prices. They questioned his political instincts, arguing that he had imperiled his party’s chances by supporting weak candidates and going on an unconvincing tour in the final weeks of the campaign. At the link in our bio, read more about how Republicans are diagnosing the party’s midterm failures.
