Lahore is entering smog season, and air pollution is already becoming a serious concern. So one thing in this Lahore Police footage deserves a simple question: Why was burning chosen as the disposal method? According to Lahore Police Operations Wing, the seized material included more than 100,000 kites, along with thousands of reels and rolls of kite string. The footage shows quantities of seized kites and string being burned in the open. My question is not about the seizure or enforcement action. It is about what happened afterwards. Punjab’s anti-smog framework restricts open waste burning as part of efforts to control air pollution and smog. So: Why was burning selected? Was this the prescribed and environmentally approved disposal method? Were less-polluting alternatives available? To be clear, I am not alleging that any law was violated, nor am I claiming that this fire caused Lahore’s current air pollution. I am asking what disposal protocol applied here and whether it was followed. When Lahore is already fighting smog and poor air quality, surely that is a fair question to ask. 📹 Source: Lahore Police Operations Wing 📑 Environmental reference: Punjab Environment Protection Department #Lahore #LahoreSmog #LahoreAirPollution #AirPollution #ShahofLahore

The salmon shark looks like a mini great white — and there’s a good reason for that. 🦈 These two species are close relatives, sharing the same powerful torpedo-shaped body, dark coloring, and unmistakable shark appearance. Salmon sharks can grow up to around 10 feet long, making them considerably smaller than great whites but still seriously impressive predators. Their big eyes might give them an almost “chibi” appearance, but don’t let the cute look fool you. Salmon sharks are fast, warm-bodied predators that roam the cold waters of the North Pacific near the top of the food chain.
