Steve Buscemi has played criminals of various stripes but also a charming barfly and a lonely record collector, summoning both bravado and vulnerability in film after film. With his part as the school principal in Season 2 of โ€œWednesday,โ€ Buscemi, 68, is hitting a career peak by some measures: The viewership of the current โ€œAddams Familyโ€ update has eclipsed that of any other Netflix show. But even while heโ€™s in a mainstream series that celebrates an outsider ethos, heโ€™s remained true to his early indie-film roots, playing a C.I.A. bureau chief in Martin McDonaghโ€™s โ€œWild Horse Nine,โ€ out next month and starring John Malkovich, alongside whom Buscemi delivers a performance thatโ€™s being lauded as one of his best. โ€œOver the years, Iโ€™ve turned down a lot of stuff that made me think, โ€˜I donโ€™t know that I want to do this kind of character in this script for the people who are doing it,โ€™โ€ Buscemi says. โ€œFor me to play a really dark character now, or to play a gangster, the script has to be great.โ€ Tap the link in our bio to read about how Buscemi went from being a firefighter to an actor and how he connects with dark characters. #CocoGauff faced a wave of racist messages after a disputed point during her China Open match against Sun Xinran. Gauff stopped play because of a flickering advertising board, and the umpire ordered the point replayed. The United Nationsโ€™ human rights office condemned the attacks, saying Black female athletes are specifically targeted with racist abuse. It urged players, coaches, sports organizations and fans to stand against racism and sexism. Read more stories like this at OnsiteGlobalMedia.us (link in bio). Source: ABC News/AP, Reuters
