This man’s music has been very important to me over the years… from seeing him in Gallows what feels like a lifetime ago to following along through Pure Love and into The Rattlesnakes. The music evolved along a relatable path as time went on, building up into the masterpiece that is Dark Rainbow and my favorite Rattlesnakes song, Sun Bright Golden Happening.
These photos were taken at The Atlantis in Washington,DC last year. It was my favorite show of the year. Out of the easily triple-digit number of bands I was fortunate enough to work or see on my own time in 2024, this performance won.
This day and show kind of exist in a dream state memory. My original plan was to drive seven hours from Cleveland to DC. This plan changed with the sudden passing of a friend and coworker. Recalculating… new plan; driving all night to NYC to attend his funeral and then leave from there to Washington. After this 24hr whirlwind of highway hypnosis, showtime arrived. Somehow, while being sicker than anyone performing should be, Frank proceeded to give one of the most memorable performances I’ve ever seen. It was a very special night, and I am still grateful to have been able to attend.
Fast forward to 2025. The Agora Theatre books Sex Pistols for a show this October, now with new energy breathed into them with Frank Carter fronting the band. I cannot wait to see these guys on the stage I love so much… what a winding journey this has been to follow.
Grateful to be witnessing it all.
