THE DAY THAT CHANGED 2PAC FOREVER 🤬

AND LEFT HIM SCARRED FOR LIFE...

"I can't breathe... I can't breathe."

🗓️ 35 YEARS AGO TODAY (Oct 17, 1991): At 12:45 PM in downtown Oakland (17th & Broadway), 2Pac was stopped for jaywalking while crossing the street to Union Bank—physically, verbally assaulted and brutally beaten by two Oakland police officers, Alexander Boyovich and Kevin Rodgers.

🚨 THE AFTERMATH:
Pac was thrown in jail for 7 hours on charges of "resisting arrest," causing him to miss the Yo! MTV Raps premiere of his debut video, "Trapped".

💈 THE HIDDEN TRAUMA:
According to his publicist Karen Lee, the deep trauma of the beatdown triggered Pac's alopecia—leading him to shave his head as the internal stress began taking a physical toll (Dear Mama documentary).

⚖️ THE LAWSUIT:
On November 12, 1991, Pac held a press conference exposing police brutality and harassment. Together with attorney @johnburris , 2Pac filed a $10 million lawsuit against the City of Oakland and OPD—later settling for $42,000.

🗣️ IN HIS OWN WORDS:
"I had no record all my life. OK? No record! No police record until I made a record. As my video was debuting on MTV, I was behind bars getting beat by the police department. I was still an N-I-DOUBLE-G-A and they proved it."

"All this is scars I go to my grave with. All this is learn-to-be-a-n*gga scars. They gave me $42,000. I had to pay my lawyer a whole bunch and bought a car. I settled because I was tired of court. I could have won more, but I was tired of going to court. I felt like any dollar from any police department was good money. - So you got $42,000 for jaywalking? That's a hell of a ticket."
