Indian-origin people gathered outside the Indian High Commission in London and danced in support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as political tensions continued over protests linked to the alleged issue of vote theft in India. YouTuber Dhruv Rathee had appealed to people in London to join a protest against alleged vote theft. He urged people to gather near Mahatma Gandhi’s statue in Parliament Square at 12 PM on October 17. The developments have brought two contrasting demonstrations into focus, with Rathee calling for people to raise their voices over allegations concerning India’s electoral process, while members of the Indian diaspora expressed support for PM Modi. The issue of alleged vote theft has become a political flashpoint in India, with opposition leaders accusing the Election Commission of India of failing to ensure fair elections. The allegations have been disputed, and the Election Commission has defended its electoral processes. Rathee has frequently commented on Indian politics and government policies through his YouTube videos. His appeal for a demonstration in London extended the debate to Indians living abroad.
Court has issued a fresh notice to YouTuber Dhruv Rathee in a defamation case dating back to 2018. The case was filed by Vikas Pandey, who alleges that Rathee made false and defamatory claims about him in a video published that year. Pandey has challenged the statements made in the video, claiming they harmed his reputation. The legal dispute has continued for years, bringing renewed attention to the allegations and the proceedings surrounding the video. The matter is scheduled for its next hearing on October 17. The court proceedings will determine how the case moves forward; the allegations against Rathee remain claims within an ongoing legal dispute, not a final finding of liability.
