Ilona Balaga
Untitled, 2024
Wall paint, readymade
18 x 23.5 cm
Ilona Balaga's practice (@ilonabalaga) navigates the tension between the fleeting and the enduring, the organised and the spontaneous—engaging with themes of potential, destruction, and renewal. In Untitled, a found formal invitation is placed inside a brown cardboard envelope the artist received. The interior of the envelope—serving as the backdrop to the card—is painted with white emulsion wall paint, exploring the idea of ‘holding’ both as an act of containment and a state of suspension.
