✨EIGHTEEN✨- and now wearing the dress I wore for your golden birthday, 13 on the 13th. Time is so wild & you are so grown, Odessa Gray🥹 My wish for you? Gosh, you deserve to hit the jackpot of love & laughter, hope & happiness, and end up with it ALL. The romantic clean-cut boy with the Southern accent who treats you like a queen - and introduces you to seafood cookouts with his family on Sundays & has a mother who wears pearls & calls you, "Buttercup". The four children with four letter names who hang on your apron (& your every word ) in exchange for believing you hung the moon. The old white colonial drenched in history & hydrangeas with a fireplace in every bedroom - and a cozy guest suite above the garage for your night nurse...which will always & forever be ME🙋🏻‍♀️ But most of all, may you have standstill moments - perhaps within the quiet hour between when you tuck in your babies & when you turn in yourself - where you pause while looking in the mirror & delight in how far you've come. Where when you remember how tough high school felt, you also remember you were tougher. Where your heart swells with gratitude as it's clear that no struggle was ever wasted. And where you no longer question your purpose, your place in this world because it's sleeping on the other side of the wall. Someday it's all gonna make sense, birthday girl. Take heart💛 📸 by @poshpear
Settling into our new surroundings 🍃
This dip shocked me when I first learned how to make it from my friend. Just a can of sweetened condensed milk? It felt too good to be true. The best part is that you can make it in advance and store in the fridge until you need it! It’s a family favorite and is much easier than the whole dipping apple/make a mess process. Note: this is called Dulce de leche in many parts of the world, it’s delicious with shortbread cookies, in Peru they are called Alfajores. Ingredients 1 can sweetened condensed milk 4 apples of your choice 1/4 cup nuts, I prefer pecans, crushed. Directions - Place can in a pot and cover with water. Place on the stove and bring to a boil. Cover, then simmer for 2 hours. Let rest for 30 mins then open can and place caramel on a plate. Top with nuts, serve warm or store in the can in the fridge for the next day!
