Democrat Rep. Chris Pappas defeated Republican John E. Sununu in the race for U.S. Senate, according to the Associated Press. Pappas’ win keeps the seat in Democratic control as both parties battle for a majority in the Senate. Democrat Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, who has held the seat since 2009, is retiring at the end of her term. Pappas’ victory also solidifies his record as one of the most successful politicians in recent New Hampshire history. The 46-year-old has held office at various levels for two decades, having lost just one of his past 13 elections, including four consecutive terms representing New Hampshire’s 1st Congressional District. Pappas’ well-known local family, deep ties to the Democratic establishment and unflashy approach to politics have helped buoy his success — but they’ve also left him vulnerable to attacks from both parties. He attempted to frame Sununu as beholden to President Donald Trump, who had endorsed him. Edmond Laplante, a Marine Corps veteran and chair of the Constitution Party of New Hampshire, was also on the ballot.
The AC Milan owner has given his backing to Ruben Amorim 👀🔴⚫: 🗣️ "I have full faith in him. At the end of Top Gun, 'my' movie, Tom Cruise says a great line, 'I'm not leaving my wingman.' And I'm not leaving Ruben. He is in no danger whatsoever. I will stand by his side. He is my manager, and we'll keep working together until we manage to make the step up. You can't win if you keep switching managers. I chose Amorim. If I had made a mistake, I'd admit it, but I don't think I did. He learned a lot from what happened at Manchester United, and I hired him because he explained the mistakes made there to me." (via Gazzetta)

Happy Astro-Halloween! 🎃🌌This is an idea I had years ago: shooting the Milky Way with real pumpkins. The sky was the easy part; the rest was the real challenge, starting with finding big enough pumpkins in Spain, which aren’t so common, then carving them and finding a place where Orion aligns naturally. This foreground is one of the most extreme HDR panoramas I have ever done, covering everything from the highlights inside the jack-o’-lanterns to the shadows of the trees and the lit house.I shot the sky last year when there was no moon, but I was missing the foreground to finish this idea. Honestly, I’ve been going out at night for so many years that barely anything feels creepy anymore. In this area there are a few houses and old structures with so many trees and good darkness, so it’s a playground for finding nice nightscapes.
