Happy Astro-Halloween! 🎃🌌This is an idea I had years ago: shooting the Milky Way with real pumpkins.

The sky was the easy part; the rest was the real challenge, starting with finding big enough pumpkins in Spain, which aren’t so common, then carving them and finding a place where Orion aligns naturally. This foreground is one of the most extreme HDR panoramas I have ever done, covering everything from the highlights inside the jack-o’-lanterns to the shadows of the trees and the lit house.I shot the sky last year when there was no moon, but I was missing the foreground to finish this idea.

Honestly, I’ve been going out at night for so many years that barely anything feels creepy anymore. In this area there are a few houses and old structures with so many trees and good darkness, so it’s a playground for finding nice nightscapes.
