Moon over Rio ✨
A perfect angular alignment created by perspective: the Moon (384,400 km away) and Christ the Redeemer (30 m tall) briefly share a line of sight from a single point on Earth. No interaction—just orbital mechanics and human viewpoint working together 🌍🌙

„Devils Horns“ sunrise captured during a partial eclipse.

Photographer and amateur astronomer Elias Chasiotis was in place to watch the annular solar eclipse when he captured stunning photos of a sunrise that resembled red devil horns.

A mirage effect caused by light bent by warm air within the Earth’s atmosphere is known as the Etruscan Vase effect, according to APOD, so-called because of the resemblance to the flared base of the vase. It was the result he had waited for.

Images Description:

1st image - Actually they are in slide number 2 and 3. So read below

2nd image - The sun, partially blocked by the moon, rises above the sea in Al Wakrah, Qatar, Dec. 26, 2019.

3rd image- Warm air in the atmosphere bends light to create an inferior mirage called the Etruscan Vase effect, which could be seen during sunrises and sunsets.

4th image- NASA’s „Astronomy Picture of the Day“ blog featured his photos two days later.
6th image- An annular solar eclipse, partially hidden by clouds, as seen in Al Wakrah, Qatar, Dec. 26, 2019.

Happy Astro-Halloween! 🎃🌌This is an idea I had years ago: shooting the Milky Way with real pumpkins.

The sky was the easy part; the rest was the real challenge, starting with finding big enough pumpkins in Spain, which aren’t so common, then carving them and finding a place where Orion aligns naturally. This foreground is one of the most extreme HDR panoramas I have ever done, covering everything from the highlights inside the jack-o’-lanterns to the shadows of the trees and the lit house.I shot the sky last year when there was no moon, but I was missing the foreground to finish this idea.

Honestly, I’ve been going out at night for so many years that barely anything feels creepy anymore. In this area there are a few houses and old structures with so many trees and good darkness, so it’s a playground for finding nice nightscapes.

The art of pausing for a while. ✨🌌

There’s an entire universe above us, filled with colours, structures, and wonders our eyes can’t always see.

Through astrophotography, I get to reveal a little piece of that hidden beauty, one image at a time.

Sometimes, the most incredible art isn’t created. It’s discovered. 🔭💫

Cygnus Ablaze over Pic du Midi 🔥

Just 12 minutes of clear skies to capture the glowing nebulae of Cygnus above the French Pyrenees. I only had a short break in the clouds, and I’m really happy with the details and colours I managed to bring out.

The @capturetheatlas filter helped reveal the red hydrogen emission and colourful stars in this nightscape. I also added H-Alpha/OII Data to get this result.

In my search for alignments between extraordinary skies and paradisiacal landscapes, I discovered that behind Morro do Pico, in Fernando de Noronha, lies a true hidden gem. Many people visit Bar do Meio to watch its extraordinary sunset, but few imagine what appears in that direction once night falls: the colorful heart of the Milky Way, surrounded by nebulae and cosmic dust. Above, a sky filled with stars; below, the green of the trees, the sand, and the sea of Noronha.

Special thanks to @igneis.nightscapes for their participation and mentorship throughout the editing process.

E aí… já viram a Lua hoje?

$You’re looking at the Moon like you’ve never seen it before. Shot on April 3rd, 2025 during its 35% phase — this image reveals the real colors of our lunar neighbor. The red-pink tones? Iron oxide. The blue hues? Titanium oxide. Every crater, every glow, every detail — captured from Earth with a Canon 6D and a Newtonian telescope setup. Swipe through to see what most telescopes miss: • Rainbow halos caused by light dispersion • Diffraction rays thanks to the optics • And the hidden beauty of the lunar surface brought to life The Moon isn’t just gray. It’s a chemical masterpiece, a cosmic time capsule, and Earth’s forever companion. Photo by: @_ibatullin_ildar_ Tag someone who needs to see the Moon like this. This cave in Bulgaria has been nicknamed “The Eyes Of God” Deep within Bulgaria’s karst landscape is Prohodna Cave, a 262-meter-long natural cave best known for the two massive eye-shaped openings in its ceiling. Formed over thousands of years by erosion, the holes have become known as “The Eyes of God,” giving visitors a surreal view upward through the rock. During the day, sunlight pours through them and lights the cave from above. At night, the same openings can frame the moon and stars, turning the ceiling into something that feels almost unreal.

Cassiopeia and the dust in the Milky Way, often a forgotten region, eclipsed by others with stronger emissions.

Years ago, when I shot it quickly, I noticed a lot of dusty structures: the Integrated Flux Nebula (IFN), high galactic latitude dust illuminated not by nearby stars, but by the combined light of the whole Milky Way. I thought: I have to revisit it with a 50mm and proper integration time.

Now, with 44 hours of integration, so many nights of driving, staying there, looking north, shooting... nothing. An empty field of stars. The routine was: check the weather, drive, stay the whole night shooting, and come back home wondering what I’d get out of this.

Now, with all the dust revealed, seeing it for myself makes me wonder how we can see so little, just stars, when in that direction there is so much, so much dust, so much nebulosity. We cannot see it, as if our eyes were lacking insight. But a camera, combined with patience... how curious.
