Which of these shots stuns you the most? Difficulty level: Impossible.

@jheison_huerta captured all of these awe-inspiring images with his Sony Alpha 7R V (a great landscape camera), combined with a suite of amazing GM lenses for landscapes: 14mm f1.8 GM + 16-35mm f2.8 GM + 70-200mm F2.8 GM II. #SonyAlpha by @sonyalpha

Spooky season’s mascot, getting his close up ✨ 🕷️ featuring @stewartwoodart ‘s pet Phidippus otiosus jumping spider, photographed with a perfect macro camera + lens combo.

“Whenever I test a new camera or lens, photographing my jumping spiders is always one of its first challenges! Sony UK lent me the new Sony Alpha 7R VI for a couple of weeks, and I paired it with Sony’s new 100mm macro lens to photograph this tiny subject.

My favourite feature was the amount of fine detail captured by the camera, with its high resolution allowing me to crop closely while retaining detail in the spider’s eyes and hairs.
I chose the 100mm macro lens for its close-up capabilities, allowing me to reveal features that are easily missed with the naked eye.” - Stewart. 💯

The chokehold fall aspens have on photographers… 🍂 And honestly, can you blame us? We’d travel pretty far for a chance to capture fall colors like these.

“Greenland is a place where wildlife encounters can happen in the most challenging light. Shooting with the new Sony Alpha 100-400mm f/4.5 G Master gave me the versatility to get closer to the wildlife while maintaining the flexibility to work in the soft, often dim Arctic light.” — @drew.simms 🐻‍❄️🧊🔭

Paired with his Sony Alpha 1 II, this is an exceptional combo for wildlife photography. Together, they deliver the reach, speed, and detail to make the most of once-in-a-lifetime encounters.

One fall, I shifted my focus from sweeping autumn landscapes to the smaller details, and it completely changed how I photographed the season.

The beauty of photographing fall leaves? You don’t need golden hour! There are wonderful photo opportunities at any time of day.

I’m sharing 10 tips to help you slow down, explore different techniques, and see autumn a little differently.

Experiment with intentional camera movement (ICM), multiple exposures, or intentionally out-of-focus images to create abstract effects. My go-to starting point for ICM is a shutter speed of 1/10 second.

Look for an interesting focal point and use surrounding leaves to naturally frame it. This helps draw the viewer’s eye to your subject while adding depth and color to your composition.

Use a telephoto lens to compress the scene and bring layers of colorful leaves closer together. It’s a great way to create depth and fill your frame with beautiful fall color.

Use a little extra light to bring out the beautiful colors, textures, and tiny details in fall leaves. I love using a macro light to illuminate my subject and help it stand out from the background.

Look for small pockets of light filtering through the trees and illuminating individual leaves. These little spotlights can make colors glow and create beautiful contrast against darker backgrounds.

Look for reflections in puddles, slow-moving creeks, ponds, or any calm water. I’ve found that sunny days often produce the most beautiful reflections, bringing out the vibrant colors of the leaves and creating interesting compositions.

Try and find interesting shadows cast by leaves, especially on sunny days. Play with the shapes, patterns, and contrast they create to add another dimension to your fall photos.

Head out after a windy or rainy day when freshly fallen leaves are scattered across the ground. Their vibrant colors and beautiful textures make great subjects, especially before they begin to dry out and fade.

Rainy-day reflections with layers of depth and dimension, captured by @sacks ☔

“My primary camera is the Sony A7 IV, paired with the Sony 85mm F1.8 lens. This combination has been central to much of my street photography over the past four years. I particularly appreciate its image quality, versatility and ability to perform in challenging lighting conditions.

I love exploring the streets without a fixed plan, looking for interesting combinations of colour, light, layers and movement. Reflections and layered compositions are a big part of my work, often transforming ordinary, everyday scenes into something more abstract.

All my images are captured as single exposures, without compositing. Once I’ve found a scene and composition that interests me, I’ll often spend a long time waiting for the right moment when all the elements come together.”

Your patience really paid off here, @sacks 👏👏
