In late January of 2022, while working 18 hour shifts on a 2-week plant shut down, hired on by a temporary construction agency, I found some time to sketch this portrait of Selena on a lunch break near the end of the two week work period. Around that time, while in the midst of having to pick up pieces of my life and my sanity after a period of heavy drinking and an episode of alcohol induced psychosis, I found a source of positivity, relatability, and grounding in her music. RIP to a beautiful soul that was taken from us way too soon.
