The Shepherd’s Leap, known locally as Salto del Pastor, is a traditional technique developed by the Guanche people of the Canary Islands to navigate the steep and jagged volcanic terrain that covers much of the landscape. When I first came to Germany, I experienced a cultural shock I never expected. One day I was sitting at a dinner table enjoying my meal, and suddenly someone calmly pulled out a tissue and blew their nose right there. For a second I froze with my fork in the air thinking, “Did that really just happen?” Everyone else continued eating like it was the most normal thing in the world, like someone had just asked for the salt. I can recall so many feminine-presenting artists/musicians who get incredible amounts of hate/belittled in their dignity for “bad things” they’ve done, but at a DISPROPORTIONATE RATE than their male counterparts… The amount of times I’ve heard ‘Oh but I still like Drake tho🥺…” Okay?… Just don’t empower him or talk about him… the way we’ve empowered our wonderful child-loving president… Misogyny and racism are very real powerful systemic oppressive structures and we need to call it out one day at a time. #women #culture #music #artists #men
