Autism & food struggles... 💙 We get comments all the time saying, "Just get him to try this" or "If he gets hungry enough, he'll eat." It really isn't that simple. Mason has a very small number of safe foods, and although he's recently surprised us by trying a few new things, that's incredibly rare. If he suddenly stops eating one of his safe foods, we're left with even fewer options, and that can become a serious worry. For some autistic children, sensory issues around food, textures, smells and tastes can make eating incredibly difficult.
