In 2019, before Phua Chu Kang was seemingly resurrected with Yuu promos and the COVID rap, Gurmit performed a one-man show as Phua Chu Kang, breaking character at times, to a full-house, sold-out crowd in Kuala Lumpur.
From the moment he stepped on stage, all the way until his set ended, Gurmit, in full PCK getup, had the entire crowd in the palm of his hands. It was a sight to behold.
Together with nothing but a two-man camera crew(three including myself), we sought to capture not just a performance, but something deeper; a person.
It wasn't just a front row seat; it was an all-access pass. It was an insightful time, to say the least.
While what we captured will hardly do justice to the entire experience that it was, I hope that when you finally get to see the next couple of videos, you will rediscover the joy that a certain TV character brought to you in those years, and also learn something new about the actor behind it.
