it’s been a year since I finished my cake quilt which, to this day, is still the longest most involved most technical piece of art I’ve ever made. I still feel so proud of it and have been referencing it a lot in my 50 quilts project I’m doing (even though these 50 play quilts are alotttt more simple lol). I almost didn’t share that this quilt got rejected from Quiltcon last year but I decided to be brave and advocate for this work that I poured my whole self into and it was such a surprise when my story went viral and tens of thousands of people told me they enjoyed this piece, but more than that, appreciated me being open about something that felt like a failure. That experience taught me so much about how I perceive my quilts and where I want them to exist and the intention I want to bring to them. Anyway, I’m making this post now because I just received a surprise request to send this quilt to Japan and have it displayed and shown there!!!!! I’m so excited!!!!! It reminded me for the hundredth (thousandth? Millionth??) time that there is no wasted experience and that the things we perceive as endings usually aren’t. Ok, that’s all I wanted to tell you about, I’m just so excited this quilt gets to go overseas and have a life somewhere. 🧵🪡💕🐌🐞🎂🍰🧁 #quiltconreject

#NEWS: Former Dallas police officer Amber Guyger has been released on parole after serving seven years of her 10 year sentence for the 2018 murder of 26 year old Botham Jean.

Guyger was convicted in 2019 after fatally shooting Jean inside his own apartment, claiming she mistakenly entered the wrong unit and believed he was an intruder.

The Texas parole board cited her prison conduct and completion of rehabilitation programs in approving her release. Her initial parole request was denied in 2024.

Guyger will remain under parole supervision until her sentence expires in 2029. Jean’s family opposed the decision and has requested privacy as they continue to grieve their loss.

A young girl from Nepal became an internet sensation after pictures of her incredibly beautiful handwriting went viral on social media.

Prakriti Malla was just 14 years old and studying in Class 8 at a school in Bhaktapur, Nepal, when her neatly written homework caught everyone’s attention.

Her letters were so perfectly shaped, evenly spaced and beautifully aligned that people could hardly believe they were handwritten!

Her talent later received international recognition. In December 2022, Prakriti presented a handwritten letter to the UAE Embassy in Nepal and received appreciation for her remarkable writing skills.

Often described online as having the world’s most beautiful handwriting, Prakriti’s story proves that even a simple skill can make someone famous worldwide.
