The full unedited version is on facebook this is just a summery but it will do.

It’s 2 a.m. Your alarm rings. You silence it quickly before waking the house. You slip out into the living room where your gear is laid out. You’ve got about an hour and 50 minutes until the gate opens.

You throw on your base layer and load the truck while the coffee brews. After taking the dog out and hooking up the boat, he jumps into the passenger seat—he knows what’s coming.

At the gas station, you grab fuel and Little Debbie’s—essentials. A man walking out asks, “Gonna kill anything?” You grin. “Sure gonna try.” He nods. “Good luck.”

The truck heater battles the cold as you head to the hole you’ve been scouting. It’s 2:45. Just over an hour to go.

You pull in. A few trucks are ahead, more roll in behind. You unload your gear: gun, decoys, dog. Soon your buddies arrive. You’ve waited all year for this.

At 3:30, you breathe in that familiar mix of water and timber. You fire up the surface drive and let it warm. Boat loaded, waders on, jacket zipped. Your dog’s trembling—he’s been waiting too.

Stories and strategies pass between you and your crew. At 4:00, boats start launching. One by one they vanish into the dark. It’s finally your turn.

As your boat hits the water, you spot lights disappearing into the break. You take mental notes to avoid crowding anyone.

Your buddy hops in after parking the truck, and you push off. Fog hangs low over the water. You weave through logs and grass mats. Other hunters are setting up, but your spot’s farther on.

You reach it. Check OnX. Confirmed. You ease into the timber and unload—dog stand, guns, decoys. You hide the boat. The spread goes out. It’s not perfect—but it’ll do.

Around 5:00, a honey bun wrapper crinkles. You talk. Laugh. Wait. Then quiet.

The woods wake up. At 6:45, birds flutter low. Some land in front of you. But it’s not time—yet.

Then—boom. A shot rings out. It begins.

You hear a quack. A greenhead locks in. Others follow.

Click. Safeties off.
Boom. Triggers pull.
Birds drop.
