Red Cedar 🌲 AKA Cedar

Cedar had lots of big feelings today.

I miscommunicated a quick meet and greet with his two dog besties that looked to Cedar like it was going to be an epic play date with his favourite gang.

Cue full meltdown.

A year ago I probably would have felt extremely embarrassed, overwhelmed, and confused by his reaction. But today, I was in a head space to recognize it was a reaction to my mistake. I unintentionally signaled something different than what actually happened.

Im learning. I know I’ll make more mistakes, but I also know how far we’ve come. From having big feelings about every dog interaction to moments like this being rare.

We are getting better at understanding each other and learning what we both need when we’re overwhelmed. For me, it’s his full body Cedar slams that pick my spirits up and for Cedar, it’s a long walk in the woods and an aesthetic pee 💕
