Tomorrow, just showing up is already a win. ❤️ I’ll be lining up against 14 of the best HYROX athletes in the world in Hamburg. The past few weeks haven’t been easy for me. Mentally, I’ve been dealing with a lot, and my mind hasn’t always been where it usually is when it comes to racing. There were moments when I wasn’t even sure I wanted to be at this starting line. But thanks to the people around me, especially my friends who encouraged me to make this trip anyway, I’m here. And I’m grateful for that. Because sometimes we forget what a privilege it is to do what we love, to compete at this level and to be part of something we’ve worked so hard for. Tomorrow, I’ll give it everything I have. But whatever the result, I’m already proud that I made it to where I am. Life will always put obstacles in our way. But they don’t have to make us smaller or take away our strength. Sometimes, all it takes is having the right people around us to help us find our way back to ourselves. 🫶🏼 Showing up takes more strength than people realise. ❤️‍🔥 . 📸: @hyroxworld
We’re gaining an hour of sleep tonight, y’all ⏰🌅 #localnews #fallback
Book Review 📖 Title: Dead in the Water Author: John Marrs Genre: Psychological Thriller Rating: ⭐⭐⭐ John Marrs is usually an author I can count on to pull me into a story, so I was curious to see where this one would take me. Unfortunately, Dead in the Water didn’t quite leave the impression I was hoping for. The story follows Damon, who nearly drowns during a swimming challenge with his ex-wife, Melissa. After being revived, he starts seeing dead people, including a young boy he can’t remember. Desperate for answers, Damon comes up with a plan to die and be brought back so he can figure out what’s happening to him. Because apparently, one near-death experience wasn’t enough. 😭 The premise had me interested, especially the mystery surrounding the boy and how the different characters might connect. However, as the story progressed, the twists became increasingly difficult for me to buy into. I also struggled to connect with the characters. Although their roles in the mystery kept me curious, I never felt invested enough in their individual stories to care as much as I wanted to. With so much happening, I found myself more focused on figuring out the twists than actually connecting with the people at the centre of them. My biggest disappointment was that I kept reading to find out how everything would end, but the payoff just didn’t make the journey worthwhile for me. I know plenty of readers have enjoyed this one, but sadly, it was a forgettable read for me. I’ll still be picking up John Marrs’ books, though! ❤️ QOTD: If you could come back to life with answers to one question about death, would you be willing to die to find out? 👀 #bookstagram #deadinthewater #johnmarrs #bookreview #booksbooksbooks
