A Ghost at our Cottage… 👻 Well, it is Halloween after all… so I thought it might be the perfect opportunity to share a few of our rather curious experiences with the unexplained. We live in a farmhouse dating back to 1719 and I’ve always felt a presence here, nothing sinister, thankfully. The old curator at the Castle confirmed that ours isn’t the only farm steading on the Raby estate where the television has been known to switch itself on at 3am, at full volume, for absolutely no apparent reason! I’ve had two rather curious experiences while working as a room guide at the castle, both in my favourite room. On the first occasion, I felt a very firm tug on the back of my blazer. I actually gasped, thinking I’d caught it on an ornament or the door handle, but I was nowhere near either. It felt rather mischievous and playful and, strangely enough, I wasn’t frightened at all. On another occasion, in that very same room, I caught sight of what looked like a ghostly reflection in a bookcase. But perhaps my strangest experience happened many years ago, shortly after my mum passed away. While visiting a customer, I saw a gentleman standing beside her table, quite clearly, folding newspapers. I described exactly what I’d seen to the lady, who immediately recognised him as her late husband. She told me that he used to fold his newspapers in precisely that spot. I’d never met him. Now, I don’t pretend to have all the answers, but I’ve certainly experienced a few things over the years that I simply can’t explain. Our little ghostly visitor today was just for a bit of Halloween fun, but Daisy certainly took to her role beautifully, and I think you’ll agree she rather stole the show 👻 Are you a believer? Have you ever experienced something you simply couldn’t explain? Do share them in the comments, I’d be fascinated to read your stories too. Dining at Tanah Liat at Renaissance Bali Nusa Dua Resort was such a delightful culinary experience, celebrating the rich and authentic flavours of Indonesia in a beautifully curated setting. The restaurant offers a wonderful selection of local delights, showcasing the vibrant spices, aromatic herbs, and traditional cooking techniques that make Indonesian cuisine so extraordinary. Every dish was beautifully presented, bursting with flavour, and thoughtfully prepared to highlight the country’s diverse culinary heritage. The inviting ambience, elegant interiors, and warm hospitality made the entire dining experience even more memorable. What I particularly loved about Tanah Liat was how it effortlessly combined traditional Indonesian flavours with a refined and contemporary dining experience. From the delicious local specialities to the wonderful attention to detail, everything felt like a celebration of Indonesia’s incredible food culture. The atmosphere was relaxing yet sophisticated, making it the perfect place to indulge in authentic local cuisine while enjoying the luxurious surroundings of Renaissance Nusa Dua. It was truly a fantastic gastronomic journey, filled with wonderful flavours, beautiful presentations, and exceptional hospitality. An absolute must-visit for anyone who appreciates exquisite Indonesian cuisine!
