((Added Pub. L. 106–254, § 2(a), Aug. 2, 2000, 114 Stat. 638; amended Pub. L. 107–273, div. B, title IV, § 4003(a)(4), Nov. 2, 2002, 116 Stat. 1811.))
🚨🚨 WHY CAN’T STATE & LOCAL LE ANIMALS BE PROTECTED UNDER THIS LAW?
🇺🇸➡️ Because of the 10th Amendment of the Constitution: States Rights.
Very broadly put, the federal government cannot dictate how state or local law enforcement agencies operate on a daily basis. This includes how they train, deploy, or punish crimes involving their own police K9s or horses.
📢That being said we strongly believe state & local LE animals attached to federal task forces SHOULD be protected under this federal law.
We have been hard at work. Stay tuned...
