Fragmento de la entrevista de nuestro querido y entrañable Turco. Un tipo de pocas palabras pero muy certeras, de un corazón y solidaridad desinteresada.
Esperamos que desde donde estés, puedas ver el docu.

The Trump administration has opened an investigation into Wells Fargo over programs the bank created to help more Black families become homeowners. The Department of Housing and Urban Development, the federal agency that oversees housing, sent a letter to Wells Fargo CEO Charlie Scharf on Wednesday announcing the probe. HUD says it will examine whether the bank's programs violated the Fair Housing Act, the 1968 law that bans discrimination in housing and home lending. HUD Secretary Scott Turner said the investigation is focused on "race-based decision making." The programs under review go back nearly a decade. In 2017, Wells Fargo pledged $60 billion in mortgage loans to help create at least 250,000 new Black homeowners by 2027. In 2022, the bank added a $210 million commitment to advance racial equity in homeownership, including a $150 million special purpose credit program to lower mortgage rates and refinancing costs. A special purpose credit program is a type of loan program federal law allows lenders to offer to groups that have historically been shut out of credit. Wells Fargo later reported that it went past its $150 million goal, a detail HUD cited in its letter. Those 2022 commitments followed a Bloomberg investigation that found Wells Fargo approved fewer than half of the Black homeowners who applied to refinance their mortgages in 2020, a far lower rate than for white applicants. An investigation is not a finding that Wells Fargo broke the law. HUD has ordered the bank to preserve records tied to its mortgage programs, including emails and other communications, and said its first requests for information will come within 10 business days. HUD says it is also reviewing similar programs at other banks. The gap these programs set out to close is still wide. In 2024, 46% of Black adults owned their homes, compared with 73% of white adults, according to a Pew Research Center review of Census data. That gap is wider now than it was in 1970, when the rates were 42% and 66%.
